A Mineral woman faces pending charges following a collision that killed a 63-year-old motorcyclist on Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The motorcyclist, Olivia A. Waller, of Tacoma, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers have notified next of kin.

According to WSP, Waller was riding a 1995 Harley Davidson northbound on state Route 7 near Mineral Hill Road at about 2:50 p.m. April 20 when she collided into the back of a 2005 Kia Spectra that was slowing to a stop.

Troopers said the motorcycle failed to stop prior to the collision.

The driver of the Spectra, Madeline A. Vert, 32, of Mineral, was uninjured. WSP indicated that she could face charges, though the charges were not disclosed in its incident report.

According to troopers, Vert was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident. Waller was wearing a federally compliant helmet.

The official cause of the collision is under investigation.

WSP said in its report that drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, but did not specify further.

Just before 7 p.m. Monday, the Washington state Department of Transportation sent out a travel alert saying all lanes of Route 7 had reopened following the collision.
