The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad and Museum (CCRM) will celebrate Father’s Day at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, with a “BBQ and Train Ride With Dad” excursion.
“Arrive at 4:30 p.m. for a leisurely BBQ; eat on the deck or carry your food onto the train and enjoy your dinner as you ride,” CCRM stated in a news release. “At 5:15 p.m., the train will depart the station for a ride into the scenic Chehalis River Valley. Passengers have the option of indoor and outdoor seating.”
Food will be catered by Joy’s Once Upon a Thyme. The menu includes barbecue ribs, baked beans, macaroni salad, fruit slaw and cornbread, with a chocolate cupcake with raspberry frosting for dessert. Beverages include lemonade, coffee and water. Beer and wine will be available for purchase on the train throughout the journey.
The train departs from the Chehalis Train Depot and will return to the depot by 7 p.m.
Tickets are $79 per person, with riders age 4 and under allowed to ride for free. The excursion is limited to 100 passengers and tickets must be reserved prior to arrival.
The train is ADA-accessible.
Parking is free at the Chehalis Train Depot, which is located at 1101 SW Sylvenus St. in Chehalis, across from the Veterans Memorial Museum.
CCRM will run its normal passenger excursions in addition to the “BBQ and Train Ride With Dad” event on Father’s Day weekend.
General seating and first-class seating are available on Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Sunday, June 15, at 10 a.m., 1.p.m. and 4.p.m. Fares are $29 for adults, $27 for seniors and $21 for youth ages 5 to 13. Kids 4 and under ride for free.
“The two-hour excursion to Ruth, a former rail-stop along the old Chehalis Western Train route, is a memorable way to spend the day with dad,” CCRM said in a news release.
Walk-ups are welcome for regular excursions, but not for the “BBQ and Train Ride With Dad” event.
