Chehalis community comes together for Jack State Invite

One of the annual events of the summer in Lewis County had another strong turnout on Saturday.

The Jack State Invite, through the Jack State Foundation, W.F. West High School and the Lewis County Tennis Association, celebrated the life and legacy of the former head coach of the Bearcats’ boys and girls tennis programs.

State passed away in 2024 at the age of 80.

He coached tennis for five decades. The event featured casual match play, drills that State was a believer in and other skills to harness an individual’s tennis game.

“Jack loved this event and loved to see so many tennis friends come together for a good time on the courts,” a statement on the LCTA Facebook page prior to the event said. “His legacy continues as we support future generations in the sport of tennis.”

The Jack State Foundation aims to slice financial barriers through grants and other ways to help athletes reach their top goals on and off the athletic field.
