A Chehalis driver fatally struck a pedestrian in King County Monday after the pedestrian reportedly exited his car on Interstate 405, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Felix O. Oloo, 41, of Everett, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. The King County Medical Examiner's Office has since notified next of kin.
According to WSP, Jayde S. Roush, 26, of Chehalis, was driving a 2021 Hyundai Sonata northbound on I-405 at about 5 a.m. May 4 when she struck Oloo, who had left a 2021 Mazda CX-5 stopped on the shoulder of the interstate.
Troopers said Oloo, who was described as a passenger of the CX-5, had attempted to run east across the northbound lanes just south of Northeast 160th Street.
Roush reportedly made the initial emergency call.
In its incident report, WSP said it was unknown whether any drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
The roadway was blocked for three hours and 16 minutes following the incident, according to WSP.
