Chehalis Foundation, school district to hold groundbreaking ceremony for new baseball field and turf installation

The Chehalis Foundation and the Chehalis School District on Friday announced an upcoming groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a “state-of-the-art” baseball field and the installation of “top-quality” turf in a news release. 

“This project marks a significant milestone in our efforts to enhance the facilities and community engagement opportunities for students and residents in the Chehalis area,” the foundation stated in the release. 

The ceremony will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 28 at the project site located at W.F. West High School, 342 SW 16th St., Chehalis. 

The event will bring together representatives from the Chehalis Foundation, the Chehalis School District, community leaders and other key stakeholders.

The new baseball field and turf installation project is a joint initiative between the Chehalis Foundation and the Chehalis School District, “with the aim of providing a safe and high-quality playing surface for our student-athletes and community teams,” the release stated.  

The enhanced facilities will not only benefit the high school baseball program but also provide a first-rate venue for local recreational leagues, the foundation stated. . 



“We are so thankful for our community’s generosity to our students,” said Dr. Christine Moloney, Chehalis School District superintendent. “This project is an incredible donation that will be enjoyed by our current students and families for generations to come.” 

The upgraded baseball field will feature advanced drainage systems, professional-grade turf and optimal conditions for players and spectators, according to the foundation. Phase two of the project could include the installation of energy-efficient lighting, allowing for extended playing hours.

The groundbreaking ceremony will include remarks from stakeholders, a ceremonial groundbreaking and an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the project's timeline and anticipated benefits.
