A 33-year-old man is dead following a two-vehicle collision on state Route 6 west of Chehalis at Littell Tuesday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Cameron J. Dimond, of Chehalis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt.
According to the state patrol, Dimond was traveling east on Route 6 in a 2020 Ford Transit van near milepost 48 at about 5:47 a.m. when he attempted to turn left onto Stearns Road.
His vehicle struck a 2012 Ford F-350 pickup traveling westbound along the highway.
The state patrol described the collision as “head-on.”
The driver of the F-350, Daniel J. Nederlander, 37, of Onalaska, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, according to troopers.
Both vehicles reportedly blocked the roadway for several hours, according to the Washington state Department of Transportation.
The state patrol listed the cause of the accident as a “failure to yield,” and said both vehicles were totaled in the collision. A state patrol memo noted that it was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
