A Chehalis man could face a DUI charge after allegedly causing a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Tacoma early Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Richard S. Peace, 37, was traveling southbound on the right shoulder at 56th Street just after midnight when his 2020 Toyota Tacoma struck a 2015 Toyota Camry that had come to a stop on the shoulder.

The Camry, driven by Latonya D. Donald, 45, of Renton, then struck the vehicle in front of it, a 2011 Toyota Camry driven by Marva L. Taylor, 43, of Seattle.

All three vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder. The roadway was blocked for two hours and 12 minutes, according to the state patrol.

Donald was the only one of the three drivers who was injured in the crash. She was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center to be treated for her injuries.

According to the state patrol, drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, and Peace will likely face charges of driving under the influence.

All three drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and all three vehicles received reportable damage, though none were totaled.
