Jessica Parrent, a local singer from Chehalis, has advanced to the second round of an international Christian singing competition called “You, God’s Music.”

For her first round, Parrent sang “Counting My Blessings” by Seph Schlueter and played guitar, keyboard and drums for her video.

Her first round audition can be found at https://shorturl.at/Ocjpv.

Parrent will be submitting a new video for the second round.

In round one, Parrent ranked 66th out of the 345 contestants, making it into the top half and advancing on to the second round.

Voting for round two opens May 16 and closes June 1. Round two winners are determined entirely by public votes.

The top 25 contestants of this round will move to the semifinals, which will then be determined by 50% public votes and 50% judges scoring. The top five go to the finals, which will be live in front of the judges in San Antonio, Texas, on July 26. Finals are 40% public vote, 60% judges scoring as to who wins overall.

After each round, 20% of the donation votes goes to Parrent’s beneficiary, the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church of Chehalis, and another 20% goes directly to Parrent, which she will be giving to the church building fund.

If Parrent makes it to the finals and wins, there will be an even greater cash prize she’ll donate to the church building fund as well as receiving a professional studio recording.
