City of Centralia lifts outdoor burn ban

Posted

Effective immediately, the City of Centralia, in collaboration with the Lewis County fire marshal, has lifted the burn ban that was applicable to all residents living within Centralia city limits.

Lewis County Code strictly prohibits the burning of garbage, paper or other refuse at all times.

CMC prohibits open burning within city limits. City code defines open burning as the destructive burning of materials wherein products of combustion are emitted directly into the ambient air without passing through a stack or chimney from an enclosed chamber.

Open burning does not include recreational fires or use of portable outdoor fireplaces when conducted or used in accordance with city code. Open burning also does not include road flares or similar devices associated with traffic safety, open flames used in occupational processes or operations specifically authorized by the fire code official.
