The Twin Cities Rotary Club of Lewis County has always been a club of action.
We have a constant array of projects going at all times, both local and international.
Throughout the years, we have completed projects in Mexico, sent money to Ukraine and helped build a school in India.
Most recently, we finished constructing a detached two-classroom science and audiovisual center for Luciano B. Rama High School on Camotes Island in the Philippines.
This project has been one close to our hearts.
As a club, we have a passion for education and helping improve the conditions for students everywhere. The completion of this project was thanks to the cooperative effort provided by the Rotary Club of Gosford City and Twin Cities Rotary Club with two District Community Grants from Rotary District 5020.
The combined force of clubs and district grants throughout the world resulted in $40,000 of funding to provide this new facility.
It exists to enhance the lives of all throughout Comotes Island School District through giving the teachers and students a greater experience.
On Friday, April 25, several club members had the honor of attending an official turnover ceremony that transferred ownership of the building into the hands of the local school district.
The list of attendees from the Twin Cities Rotary Club included Larry McGee, Becky McGee, Anil Puri, Tom Duffy and Debbie Fruitman.
Representing Rotary District 5020 was Barbara McGregor. They received a warm welcome by the school band performers and students from each school year who presented them with a range of cultural experiences. They were thrilled to participate in the ribbon-cutting, unveiling a dedication plaque, and the signing of ownership papers. Their day was finished with dancing and singing to celebrate.
It is an unbelievable honor to have the opportunity to touch the lives of our neighbors. We cherish the connections that allow us to help people everywhere, no matter where they are connected.
That is the magic of Rotary.
