Business After Hours

April 20 at the Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 S. Gold St., Centralia; 5 to 7 p.m.

Attendees can network, take a tour of Sticklin’s facility, enjoy refreshments and participate in a raffle. Sticklin has been providing funeral services since 1892. For more information, visit www.chamberway.com. 

 

Earth Day Celebration

April 21 at the Nature Nurture Farmacy, 176 NE School St., Chehalis; 1 to 5 p.m.

This is a free, kid-friendly event. There will be live music, a plant sale, art, baked goods, garden demos, mini goats, free seeds, a raffle and more. 

 

Peter Pan Ballet

April 21, 22 and 23 at the Centralia High School Performing Arts Center; 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday

The Centralia Ballet Academy will perform a brand new ballet based on the classic story of Peter Pan. All tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the door or at centraliaballet.com. For questions, call or text 360-623-9010.

 

The Shed Spring Market

April 20, 21 and 22 at The Shed, 516 Spooner Road, Chehalis

The event’s hours are 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22. There will be antiques, primitives, wreaths, signs, candles and garden and spring-themed home decor. Many items will be handmade. 

Wait Until Dark By Frederick Knott

April 21 at the Roxy Theater, 233 W. Main Ave., Morton; 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15. 

 

Fishing Derby

April 22 at Fort Borst Park, Centralia; 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This event is for children ages 4 to 12. There will be drawings for prizes and free hot dogs and milk. The event is sponsored by the Centralia Lions Club. 

 

Chipping Day

April 22 at McMurphy Park, Annonen Road, Vader; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees can drop off branches and brush. Vader residents will be able to have their brush taken from their homes to the chipping site on April 18 and April 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call Mo at 360-218-4257 or city hall at 360-295-3222.

 

Work Party 

April 22 at the Discovery Trail, 1011 Goodrich Road, Centralia; 10 a.m.

Attendees can help preserve and protect this beautiful public space and reduce the spread of noxious weeds. Attendees are asked to bring gloves, gardening work clothes, a hand trowel or spade, reusable water bottles and a positive attitude. Snacks and drinks are provided. Lewis County Repair and Sustainability Fair

April 22 at the Centralia College SWFT Center Room 108, 807 W. Pear St., Centralia; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Government agencies have brought together local residents who are handy at a variety of crafts to repair your clothing, furniture, electronics, bicycles, jewelry and more. Volunteers will teach people how to repair items and maintain them to give them a longer life. 

 

Potato Bake 

April 22 at the Adna Grange, 123 Dieckman Road, Adna; 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The cost to attend is $7 and includes toppings, a garden salad, a beverage and dessert.

NW Wind Symphony Spring Concert

April 22 at the Corbet Theatre, 600 Centralia College Blvd., Centralia; 7 p.m.

General admission tickets are on sale for $12 at Book ‘n’ Brush in Chehalis or at the door the night of the event. 

 

Smoke and Mirrors

April 23 at The Juice Box, 216 S. Tower Ave., Centralia; 4 p.m.

This event includes a three-course dinner and murder mystery theater. The dinner is catered by Occasions DB. The murder mystery is written and directed by Twin Cities Rotary members. Cost of attendance is $40 per person. 

 

Community Integrated Health Services Public Operating Board Meetings

April 24 at 1217 Mellen St., Centralia

Meeting will be held in virtual format and in-person.

 

Deer Resistant Gardening

April 29 at Fort Borst Park Demonstration Garden near the Historic Borst Home; 10 a.m.

Green Thumb 101

April 30 at the Chehalis Seventh Day Adventst Church, 120 Chilvers Road, Chehalis; 2 to 4 p.m.

This is a free gardening seminar presented by Jolene Wainwright. Wainwright has a YouTube channel where she shares what she’s learned about gardening. 

 

Defensive Tactics Class

May 4 at Toledo New Life Church, 420 Silver St., Toledo; 6 to 8 p.m.

This class is one of eight put on by Toledo’s Crime Deterrent Program and is for women and girls. The class is taught by Tiffany Schumann and Bill Garrison. Schumann served nine years in the Army, three of which she spent as a combative instructor, and trained with several Elite Force Groups. Garrison has been a martial arts teacher since 16 and holds a Brown belt in jujitsu and a Black belt in aikido. Both live in Toldo. The event is free. Centralia Police Department Community Meeting

May 4 at Centralia City Hall, 118 W. Maple St., Centralia; 6 to 8 p.m.

This meeting will focus on issues within emergency response districts #2 and #4. This event is an opportunity for citizens of Centralia to meet with police officers to discuss issues within their neighborhoods. 

 

AAUW May Program

May 4 at The Gathering Place at Stillwater Estate, 1165 Stillwater Ave., Centralia; 6:30 p.m.

Gretchen Staebler, the author of “Mother Lode: Confessions of a Reluctant Caregiver,” will discuss the ups and downs of family caregiving and her experiences writing and publishing her memoir. All are welcome to attend.

 

Mother’s Day Boutique, Craft Fair and Bake Sale

May 5 and 6 at St. Francis Xavier Mission Hall, 139 Spencer Road, Toledo

Vader May Day Festival

May 6 in Vader

This event will feature a breakfast, a parade, kids games, a maypole dance and other activities. There will be a space theme.

 

Packwood Mountain Festival Fun Run

May 6 at the Packwood Timberland Regional Library, 109 Main St. W, Packwood; 9 a.m.

The race will include a 10k, 5k and a 1k kid’s dash. The registration fee is $20 for the 10k and 5k, though the fee will be $25 on the day of the race. The 1k kid’s dash will be free. For more information, call 360-494-4007.
