August Business Forum: Live Debates

Aug. 12 at O'Blarney's at the Gibson House, 221 North Tower Ave., Centralia; 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly business forum. This iteration will be similar to July’s business forum with candidate debates. There will be Centralia Port Commissioner District 1 candidates, Chehalis Port Commissioner District 2 candidates and Chehalis City Council Position 1 candidates. The forum begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and networking. The verbal debates begin at noon and will conclude at 1 p.m. Cost of admission is $5 and the cost of admission with lunch is $17.

 

Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for The Juice Box

Aug. 13 at The Juice Box, 216 South Tower Ave., Centralia; 4 to 5 p.m.

Morton Loggers’ Jubilee

Aug. 13 to 15 at 451 Knittles Way, Morton

Back for the 78th time, this event celebrates the history of loggers in Morton with a parade, lawnmower races, a pageant and logging show competition featuring axe throwing, tree topping, pole climbing and many other categories.

Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Festival

Aug. 13 to 15 at Kemp Olson Memorial Park, Toledo

California bands Central Valley Boys and Crying Uncle will headline. Others featured at the festival will be Oregon's Fern Hill, Kentucky Sky from Idaho and Olympic Peninsula ensemble FarmStrong. ‘Seussical Jr. the Musical’

Theater Of The Arts Discipline (TOAD) presents “Seussical Jr. the Musical.” Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children age 12 and under.

Aug. 14 at Seminary Hill Natural Area; 10 a.m.

Mossyrock High School Class of 1970 50th Reunion

Aug. 14 at the Mossyrock community center; 12 p.m.

Southwest Washington Fair Begins

Aug. 17 to 22 at the fairgrounds, 1909 S Gold St, Centralia

The theme for this year’s fair is “Let’s All Go To The Fair.” The fair opens each day at 10 a.m. On Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday, closing time is 10 p.m. On Friday, it closes at 11 p.m. and on Sunday it closes at 7 p.m.

Concerts, contests, a rodeo, local talent, vendors, fair food, carnival rides a petting zoo and more make the fair Lewis County’s most popular event.

August Business After Hours

Aug. 19. at The Juice Box, 216 South Tower Ave., Centralia; 5 to 7 p.m.

Network with business leader’s at the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce’s monthly “Business After Hours.” The Juice Box will have snacks and drinks for those in attendance.

 

14th Annual Back-to-School Dash

Aug. 21 at I-5 Toyota, 1950 NW Louisiana Ave., Chehalis; 9 a.m.; register at i-5dash.com/register

The Back-to-School Dash 5k run/walk proceeds go to scholarships for local students. Sign-up is available until 15 minutes prior to the event, but registration online ensures participants will receive a shirt. For a whole family, registration costs $50. It is $25 for an individual and $15 for a student.
