Chehalis Flying Saucer Party
Sept. 22 and 23 in Downtown Chehalis; event and speaker times vary
Hosted by the Lewis County Historical Museum, City Farm Chehalis and both McFiler’s Chehalis Theater and Bar & Restaurant, skeptics and believers alike are invited to attend the Chehalis Flying Saucer Party. Speakers include paranormal investigators and the Northwest Flying Saucer Film Festival will also be held. Potato bake

The potato plus a variety of toppings, including sour cream, real bacon, chili, broccoli, butter, cheese sauce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, jalapenos, black olives and spring onions, plus salad, beverage and dessert for just $7. Serving begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m.
‘Odd Hours, No Pay, Cool Hat’ documentary screening
Sept. 23, Centralia College in the Southwest Washington Flexible Training Center, 807 W. Pear St., Centralia; 1 p.m.
Riverside Fire Authority will host a free screening of the NVFC documentary “Odd Hours, No Pay, Cool Hat,” on Saturday, Sept. 23.
The documentary is about 90 minutes long and will start directly after a brief welcome and introduction at 1 p.m. Staff will be on site until 4 p.m.
“We are pleased to partner with Chehalis Fire Department, Lewis County Fire District 6, and Lewis County Fire District 5 and hope to have other Lewis County agencies join us — and extended the invitation beyond our county,” organizers stated in a news release. “We will have area fire chiefs on hand to welcome everyone and hope to have a representative from John Deere to thank for sponsoring the documentary and volunteer fire service all over the country.”
Apparatus will be on site and personnel will have time for persons who would like additional information about volunteering.
Sharon Grange centennial anniversary celebration

Chehalis-Centralia Airport master plan update open house

Chehalis-Centralia Airport staff are holding the first of three open houses to gather public input while they update the airport’s master plan, which governs the airport’s short-, medium- and long-term development plans. “Fly into Fall” fashion show

Attendees are invited to “Fly into Fall” at the fashion show hosted by Iron Works Boutique and the Sandstone Cafe, where they can also enjoy live music performed by local musician Buddy Price, a gift, wine and a dinner catered by the Sandstone Cafe. Interment ceremony for unclaimed remains
Sept. 28 at Pioneer Cemetery, 2000 S. Market Blvd. in Chehalis; noon
The Lewis County Coroner’s Office, in partnership with John Panesko and the Pioneer Cemetery, will hold an interment service for unclaimed cremated decedents at noon on Thursday, Spet. 28 at the Pioneer Cemetery in Chehalis. The public is invited to attend. Parking will be available across the street from the cemetery at the Eagles Club.
Women’s self defense class
Sept. 28 at Toledo First Baptist Church, 1278 WA-505, Toledo; 6 to 8 p.m.
A free self defense class for women and girls of all ages, sizes and physical abilities. This class is the eighth part of a series, but attendance at previous sessions is not required.
