Women’s self defense class 

Sept. 7 at Toledo First Baptist Church, 1278 state Route 505, Toledo; 6 to 8 p.m. 

A free self defense class for women and girls of all ages, sizes and physical abilities. This class is the seventh part of a series, but attendance at previous sessions is not required. 

In special attendance at the Sept. 7 class will be new Toledo Police Officer Dina Javor. “We’re excited to have her participate and come meet the amazing group of women we’ve been so lucky to host over the last few months,” organizers stated.

Rose Park cleanup and barbecue potluck event

Sept. 9 at Rose Park, located at 263 Penning Road in Chehalis; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Join community volunteers from the Centralia Washington Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Lewis County Parks and Recreation department for a cleanup event at Rose Park. From 9 a.m. to noon, cleanup will commence on the trails, volunteers are asked to bring landscaping tools if possible. Then, starting at noon, a barbecue potluck will begin, volunteers are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share. Dick’s Brewing Company’s Cornhole and Sausage Fest 2023

Sept. 9 at Dick’s Brewing Company, 3516 Galvin Road in Centralia; doors open at noon, cornhold tournament at 1 p.m.

Get your cornhole partner ready to participate in this cornhole tournament with proceeds going towards the Centralia Chehalis Chamber of Commerce’s Rob Fuller Scholarship Fund. Beer from the brewery and sausage from Dick’s NW Sausage and Deli will be available, as will raffle prizes from the event’s various sponsors. Winlock Cemetery District Public Meeting

Sept. 13 at 407 Cowlitz Road, Winlock; 7 p.m.

The public is invited to this meeting. Meetings take place on the second Wednesday of each month. 

 

W.F. West High School 50-year reunion 

Sept. 15-16 at Garbe’s Bar & Grill, 313 NW Chehalis Ave., and Riverside Golf Course, 1451 NW Airport Rd., Chehalis; 6 p.m. 

W.F. West High School’s class of 1973 will celebrate its 50-year reunion Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16 in Chehalis. There will be a casual get-together at Garbe’s Bar & Grill at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 and a dinner at Riverside Golf Course at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Speakers include paranormal investigators and the Northwest Flying Saucer Film Festival will also be held.
