The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office is seeking the public’s help in its efforts to identify skeletal remains of a young adult male discovered in a wooded area outside of Cougar on the south side of Mount St. Helens in 2021.

The coroner’s office doesn’t know the exact age of the male, though they believe he was a young adult at the time of his death. He was likely white.

The coroner’s office has released a forensic artist sketch.

“Please note that these are sketches that have been compiled from what the artist had to work with and may not look exactly like the person but should be a helpful example,” the coroner’s office stated in a news release. “All coloring decisions are just artistic guesses, along with hair length and color, and lips shape and size.”

DNA has been submitted for testing, according to the coroner’s office.

Anyone with information that could be helpful in identifying the man is asked to contact the Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office at 360-577-3079.

“We would like to reunite him with his family,” Cowlitz County Coroner Dana M. Tucker wrote in a news release.
