Even with three victories from their stars, the Mountaineers’ girls program showcased how deep they are in the running events to accumulate 75 points and finish third at Friday’s Spudder Invite in Ridgefield.

Janess Blackburn (discus), Acacia Murphy (high jump) and Ella Marvin (pole vault) all cruised to wins. Murphy’s clearance of 5 feet, 4 inches was a new season-best and ties her with Freeman’s Logan Pecht for the best height this year.

Madison Ingram placed second in the 1,600-meter run in a new lifetime best of 5:26.28 while Jazzlyn Shumate took third in the open 400, also in a new PR. Freshman Komaire Robles pocketed two PRs and two top-five finishes in the 1,600 and 3,200. Anika Plowman was 5th in the 300 hurdles and Rainier’s 1,600-meter relay nabbed fourth.

Winlock was the next highest area team with 21 points to place in a tie for 13th. All of them came from junior Victoria Sancho, who was the runner-up in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes and she placed fourth in the triple jump. She recorded new personal bests in both running events.

Morton-White Pass’ Samantha Lougee (javelin) placed fourth while Toledo’s Onica Chase (400) took sixth. Napavine’s 800 relay cracked the scoreboard with an eighth place performance and Tenino’s best finisher was Kendall Bowe, 10th in the javelin.

On the boys side, Toledo’s Treyton Marty was the lone winner from the area, crossing the finish line first in the 3,200. The Riverhawks piled up 30 points to place in a tie for eighth in the team race. Marty recorded a time of 4:24.03 in the 1,600 to finish second and Trevin Gale took fifth in the 200.

Morton-White Pass was 13th with 16 points while Napavine, Rainier and Winlock all tied for 16th with 13 points. Zander Peck finished second in the javelin and threw the discus 141-05 for a new PR to place fifth for the Mountaineers.

Austin Lyons hit new lifetime bests in the 110 and 300 hurdles, placing fourth in both for the Tigers. Lincoln Ruiz (discus) and Xavier Sancho-Carrillo (400) each ended up in fourth for the Cardinals. The Timberwolves’ 1,600-meter relay grabbed third and Matthew Parvin (100) crossed the line in fifth.

Tenino sent a limited roster to Ridgefield, but Ashton Moore leaped 21-04 to take second in the long jump.
