Deputies arrested a 33-year-old man who is accused of "indiscriminately" firing a gun near The Evergreen State College early Wednesday morning.
Witnesses called 911 to report the shooter on the 1700 block of Evergreen Parkway Northwest, according to a Facebook post by the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies and Evergreen police responded to the scene and reportedly found the man inside a car surrounded by shell casings. The post says deputies conducted a "high-risk stop" and the man was arrested "without deadly force."
Using a search warrant, deputies recovered a ".40 caliber handgun and ammunition" within the car, according to the post. They also found about 60 shell casings in the area and two public signs that had been shot.
The Thurston County jail roster indicates the man was arrested about 5 a.m. near the intersection of 17th Avenue Northwest and Evergreen Parkway.
Deputies booked the man on suspicion of drive-by shooting, reckless endangerment, aiming or discharging a firearm and third-degree malicious mischief.
The Sheriff's Office post does not say what motive the man may have had or what condition he was in.
