The Economic Alliance of Lewis County, which operates the local tourism website DiscoverLewisCounty.com, is completing a strategic planning process, and as part of that effort has scheduled a pair of meetings in Packwood and Toledo to hear from residents.

In a news release, the Alliance stated, “Hearing from Lewis County residents is vital to the success of this project.”

Discover Lewis County started within Lewis County government but has been transferred to the Economic Alliance of Lewis County, which has received state grant funding to conduct public strategy sessions for tourism. The Alliance has hired rural community planning experts Arnett-Muldrow to lead the project.

The goal is to create a comprehensive tourism plan for Lewis County.

“This plan will enhance the visitor experience and help communities preserve their character,” the Alliance stated in the release. “The hour-long meeting will explore the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for tourism in the region. Please join us for this important strategy session.”

The first meeting will be at 6 p.m. June 13 at the Packwood Community Center, 12935 U.S. Highway 12. The second meeting will be at 6 p.m. June 14 at Steamboat Landing in Toledo, 115 Ramsey Way.
