A dog and a tortoise were rescued Sunday morning from a house fire in Sherwood that displaced three people, fire officials said.
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue responded around 8:15 a.m. to reports of a house on fire in the 15300 block of Southwest Clifford Court that fire officials described as “heavily involved.”
Firefighters found a dog inside the home that wasn’t breathing, the fire department said. After bringing the dog outside, firefighters provided oxygen through a pet mask that revived the dog.
A tortoise was also found on the property, under a trailer, the fire department said. Both animals were taken to a veterinarian. Officials didn’t release further information about their conditions.
Three people were displaced by the fire and are receiving help from the American Red Cross, officials said. The fire department didn’t report any injuries.
The fire department said it put out the blaze within 40 minutes and that firefighters prevented it from spreading to neighboring homes. The fire department is investigating the fire’s cause.
