Dolly Essie Goodwin of Centralia, 84, of Centralia, Wash., passed away Dec. 8, 2019, surrounded by family. She was born Feb. 20, 1935, to Merle and Essie (Johnson) Dunlap and grew up in Galvin, Wash., with her lifelong friend, Faye (Palmer) Spencer by her side.

Dolly graduated from Centralia High School and attended Centralia College, where she met the love of her life and future husband, H. Richard (Dick) Goodwin. On June 4, 1955, Dolly and Dick married at the Methodist Church and set down roots in Centralia. Dolly worked as a supervisor for the State of Washington Employment Security Department for over 40 years. Dolly and Dick retired in 1995, and spent the following years with family, friends and traveling in their motorhome with the Good Sam Club.

Dolly was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, friend, and baker of rolls like no other. She will forever be loved, missed, and cherished.

Dolly, known as “Nanno” to her many grandchildren, is survived by her loving spouse of 64 years, Dick; two sons, Dean Goodwin (wife, Starlet) and Doug Goodwin (wife, Robin); daughter, Darla Goodwin (husband, Joe); six granddaughters, Kalina Goodwin, Kendall Maniulit, Candace Sallee, Alyssa Goodwin, Clara Cunnane and Fiona Cunnane; five grandsons, Judson Goodwin, Dalton Goodwin, Travis Brotherson, Eli Goodwin and Seth Goodwin; two great-grandsons, Kayden Eisele and Kendrick Maniulit; and three great-granddaughters, Briah Connors, Riley Brotherson and Blakely Brotherson.  

She was preceded in death by her father, Merle Leroy Dunlap; mother, Essie Viola Dunlap; and brothers, Richard (Dick) Dunlap and Dewey Dunlap.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at the Cooks Hill Community Church, with Ron Keeling officiating, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cooks Hill Community Church.
