A Centralia man is facing domestic violence charges after an alleged victim reported a sexual assault to Hope Alliance staff in June 2022.

Hope Alliance is a nonprofit serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, offering resources and free, confidential support service.

Hope Alliance staff reportedly facilitated a meeting between a client and an officer with the Centralia Police Department in June 2022, which led the Centralia Police Department to open an investigation into those allegations.

Second-degree rape and assault charges against the defendant, whom The Chronicle is choosing not to name in order to protect the identity of the victim, were filed in Lewis County Superior Court in April 2023.

As of Friday, his case was on discretionary review while the defendant awaits a competency evaluation.

Bail has been set at $500,000.
