A 63-year-old Pasco man was injured after an asphalt roller fell off the side of a trailer on state Route 508 near Cinebar on Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Donald R. Alspaugh was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment after the incident at about 3:30 p.m.

“The driver was operating an asphalt roller and moving it onto the back of the trailer,” the state patrol stated in a news release. “The asphalt roller fell off the side of the trailer after one of the cylinders caught a portion of the metal edge. The driver was ejected from the asphalt roller and both came to rest in the roadway.”

The state patrol listed the cause of the incident as “inattention” and determined drugs or alcohol were not a factor.
