Benton County deputies are investigating the discovery of a baby's body in a garbage bag along Interstate 82 on Tuesday.
Details about the discovery and investigation remain sparse, including how old the child was, how it was discovered and if it's being investigated as a homicide.
The remains were found along Interstate 82 between Richland and Benton City.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death, Coroner Bill Leach said.
An autopsy was conducted Wednesday but there hasn't been a determination of the cause and manner of the child's death, he said.
