Engagement announcement: Slade Bailey and Kelsy King

Posted

Slade Bailey and Kelsy King have formally announced their engagement.

The groom, Slade Bailey, graduated from W.F. West High School in 2016. He attended Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, but decided that the cooler temperatures of the Pacific Northwest were calling to him. He returned home to Chehalis and finished his bachelor’s degree in business management at Centralia College in 2020. Bailey worked at Braun Northwest and then moved to Missoula, Montana, in the summer of 2022 and became roommates with his brother, Ashton. Bailey is employed at Mountain Supply Co.

The bride, Kelsy King, attended a homeschool co-op in Puyallup and then graduated from Pierce College in 2016 with her high school diploma and an associate degree. King furthered her education by attending Bates College for an occupational therapist assistant and graduated in 2019. In 2020, she moved to Barrie, Vermont, to help at a horse camp with a counselor that she knew from her youth. They drove 15 horses to Florida. Six months later, when that job was completed, she moved to Missoula, Montana.

“What is interesting about this love story is that Kelsy was in the same homeschool co-op in Puyallup as Slade’s cousins,” a family member wrote about the engagement. “However, Slade and Kelsy never crossed paths until they both landed in Missoula, Montana. Now they enjoy hiking, road trips, picnics, horsing around with the horses and motorcycle riding.”

Both the bridal shower and the groom party will be held in Washington state.
