Evergreen League Baseball Outlook: Rochester returns with sights on postseason run

Posted

Rochester has been no stranger to postseason play over the last handful of years. The Warriors have made the district tournament in each of the past five seasons (excluding COVID years), but they have not made the state tournament since 2014.

In fact, that same season was the last time that the Warriors made it further than the quarterfinals in the top portion of the bracket.

The 2026 Warriors will look to buck that trend and make a deep run this May, and they have the talent to do so.

Ethan Rodriguez was a first-team all-league player last year, and he headlines a senior class that includes Tayden Martin, Wyatt Dahl, and Tyler Huston, who returns to the diamond after he was injured last spring.

Sophomore Easton Singleton was also hurt last season, and now back at 100 percent, he should step into a bigger role as part of Rochester’s rotation.

The Warriors finished third in last year’s Evergreen standings behind Montesano and Tenino. The Bulldogs project to be a tough out at the top again, but the Beavers will be much more of a wild card this season.

Tenino missed out on a state berth last season after finishing third in 2024, and it lost a whopping ten seniors from last year’s group, including Austin Gonia and Will Feltus, who are playing collegiate baseball at Linfield and Yakima Valley, respectively.

Among the fresh faces expected to step into bigger roles are Jude Leitch, who is the only returner who started more than 10 games last spring, Mason Metcalf, Brayden Bennet, and Kellan Johnson, who impressed at the plate in a limited sample size (hit .333 in 18 at-bats).
