Ex-coffee stand manager going to prison for restroom recordings of co-worker

A Kennewick coffee stand employee is still haunted by the anxiety of discovering that her former shift manager secretly recorded her in a work restroom over a year ago.

She told of her struggles to sleep and other worries in a written statement to a Benton County Superior Court judge about to sentence the voyeur.

The 24-year-old woman said she still lives in fear that Christian Carman’s secret images can be found and seen by someone else.

“This is such a serious case to her,” Deputy Prosecutor Anita Petra said.

Carman, 29, previously pleaded guilty to three counts of voyeurism after the co-worker discovered in January 2025 his phone hidden in a restroom trash can with a hole cut in it.

He faced about 1 1/2 years to nearly two years in prison. The prosecutor and defense attorney recommended the minimum sentence.

Attorney Deric Orr said Carman has been undergoing sexual deviancy treatment in Utah.

“Mr. Carman is standing here today repentant to his behavior,” Orr said during the sentencing hearing. “He is prepared to face the consequences.”

Carman also apologized to the woman.

“What I did was clearly sick,” he said. “I am getting the help that I need. I’ll never offend again.”

Judge Jackie Stam agreed with minimum term, but emphasized to Carman the long-term harm he’s caused.
