Fallen Tree at Chehalis Substation Knocks Out Power, Internet for Many Thursday

Power and internet connections were knocked out for many and a brush fire was sparked after a tree fell over power lines at the Bonneville Power Administration Chehalis Substation on Highway 603 near Napavine on Thursday afternoon. 

Lewis County Fire District 5, the Department of Natural Resources and the Lewis County Public Utility District were among the responders to the blaze, which was reportedly contained within hours of the initial report. 

Highway 603 was closed as firefighters extinguished the fire and dealt with hot spots. 



Power and internet were restored by 8 p.m., according to District 5. 

No injuries were reported.
