For the first time in eight years, the Beavers have started the season unblemished and after almost blowing a massive lead, they fended off the Warriors 10-8 on Wednesday night in a non-league game in Tenino.

Tenino (3-0) roped 14 hits and were aided by five Rochester errors. The former’s leadoff hitter Will Feltus was the star at the dish, going 4-for-5 that included a home run and a double with five RBIs and three runs scored.

The Beavers built their lead with seven runs over their first three innings and they added three insurance runs, one in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Rochester (1-2) mounted a comeback in the final frame.

An RBI groundout and single were on the ends of a run-scoring error that made the Warriors deficit five runs. Their No. 8 hitter Kole Smith unleashed a bases-clearing double to make it a two-run game.

Tenino got the potential tying run out at the plate with a popup to secure the victory. Hunter Sweet finished 3-for-3 for the Beavers while Preston Snider and Michael Vassar each registered two hits.

Smith and Hayden Pietras recorded two hits each with the latter launching a home run for Rochester.
