Firefighters successfully extinguished a brush fire that was spreading toward houses in the Adna area on Tuesday.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged according to Lewis County Fire District 6.

Four District 6 units, along with one unit each from Lewis County Fire District 5, the Chehalis Fire Department and the state Department of Natural Resources, were dispatched to the fire at 3:56 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, according to District 6.

The fire broke out along state Route 6 near the intersection with Highway 603. At the time crews were dispatched, the dimensions of the fire were 10 feet by 10 feet, according to District 6. The fire spread along state Route 6 but was extinguished before it damaged the nearby structures.

Crews worked on the fire for about an hour and a half, clearing the scene at 5:36 p.m.

The final dimensions of the fire weren’t publicly available as of Wednesday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Several smaller brush fires were reported across Lewis County on Tuesday. While the National Weather Service in Seattle has not issued red flag warnings for Southwest Washington this week, the wildfire danger in the area remains high, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

Weather forecasts for the region predict daily high temperatures dropping into the 80s over the weekend, with winds between 5 and 9 miles per hour continuing through the end of the week.
