Five wrestlers and two coaches from the Twin City Wrestling Club attended the Western Regional Tournament in Farmington, Utah, winning five medals.

Zoie Cortes became a double Regional Champion in the 14U 235 weight class, winning both the Freestyle and Greco titles uncontested.

Ophileah Cortes moved up an age division from 8U to 10U, and she placed second at 100 pounds in both Freestyle and Greco.

Kaiden Coates wrestled up a weight from his state weight of 14U 140, but he still placed four in the Greco division at 14U 155 pounds.

Jace Hanson (12U 82) and Hunter Rice (12U 98) also competed for the Mat Cats, and both finished just one match shy of placing.

Wrestlers from all 11 states in the Western Region — Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming — competed in the tournament, as did wrestlers from Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Texas.

California won the team title, while Washington took second. Idaho placed third, and host Utah finished in fourth.

Twin City coaches Jake Hanson and Robert Coates said that it was a great experience for the wrestlers, and they are hopeful that they can send more wrestlers next year.
