Forget downward dog — it’s downward goat at Stone City Farm

During a goat yoga class at Stone City Farm in Tenino, the downward dog yoga pose doesn’t exist. Yoga instructor Erynn Pierce instead tells the class to move into the downward goat pose.

Attendees on Saturday laughed as goats weaved in and out of their legs while maneuvering through the yoga poses. Other goats fell asleep to the calming music on attendees mats.

Pierce ensured she understood attendees wanting to take a break to grab a photo of the goats at any point during the session.

“Unwind and find your zen, while goats climb on your back and get in your way. Guaranteed to be amusing and unique, Goat Yoga will be sure to have you laughing and stretching in no time,” from the farm's website.

Stone City Farm began hosting goat yoga in 2019 with a summer season going into the fall, but with rising temperatures and wildfires, farm owner Kathleen Nece decided to shorten the season to summer months.

There’s only one more weekend for a chance to experience the 60-minute goat yoga session. Those interested in attending at Stone City Farm in Tenino can sign up for classes on either Aug. 10 or 11 at https://www.stonecityfarm.com/products/goat-yoga

Mats are provided and the owners recommend not wearing your best yoga clothes.
