Four Centralia College students, including three from Centralia, have been named to the 2025 All-Washington Academic Team for their educational endeavors while studying at the college.
The honorees include Daniel Turner, 38, of Toledo, along with Ava Brenner, 19, Ian Engle, 33, and Kitty Starr, 28, all from Centralia.
All four were honored during the 2025 All Washington Academic Team Ceremony held at the South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia on Thursday, April 24.
Turner, a U.S. military veteran, is finishing his associate degree in computer and information sciences with the hope of transferring to a state university to continue his education.
Brenner is working on completing Centralia College’s nursing program and plans to enroll at the University of Washington for her bachelor’s degree in nursing, hoping to work in either pediatric oncology or pediatric urgent care.
Engle is finishing his associate degree in computer and information sciences with the goal of entering the workforce as a software engineer upon his graduation.
Starr is completing her associate degree in mechatronics, and also hopes to enter the workforce upon her graduation at Columbia/Okura, a Vancouver-based engineering company focused on custom robotics for manufacturing.
To qualify for the All-Washington Academic Team, students must be a part of the international honors society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK).
“Each will receive a medallion and a $225 scholarship from KeyBank. The top 16 students, as ranked by PTK and announced at the ceremony on Thursday, will receive an additional $750 from WSECU, and the top three will receive an additional $1,000 from the Washington State Association of College Trustees,” Centralia College stated on its website. “Additionally, students who choose to attend Washington state four-year colleges and universities are eligible to receive transfer scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $12,000.”
