Four first-half goals enough for Adna over Toutle

The Adna girls soccer team got all the scoring it needed in the first 40 minutes Monday, in a 4-0 win over Toutle Lake on the Pirates’ senior night.

Truth be told, the Pirates (6-6-3, 6-2-1 C2BL) needed just 13 to score the game-winner, courtesy of Reagan Naillon. But after staying at 1-0 for 20 minutes after that, they hammered three home in the final 10 minutes of the half to put things away.

In the 33rd minute, Naillon set up Lydia Tobin to make it 2-0. Three minutes after that Tobin made it 3-0 on an unassisted strike, and as soon as the Ducks got the ball rolling again, the Pirates had stolen it back, taken it upfield and won a penalty, which Margarite Humphrey converted.

“It took awhile to get the scoring going, but that happens sometimes with the distractions of the night and different lineup,” Adna coach Patrick Richardson said. “We got a lot of playing time for all of our team.”

The Pirates will end the regular season against Raymond-South Bend on the road on Wednesday, in what could well be a preview of a district first-round matchup next week.
