Four people, including a 7-year-old Salkum boy, were injured in a two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County on Wednesday.

The crash occurred near milepost 25 at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A white 2015 Toyota Highlander driven by Tory L. Majerus, 37, of Kelso, was reportedly driving behind a white 2011 Subaru Forester driven by Rachael L. Thomas, 29, of Ridgefield, when the Subaru slowed for traffic and was struck by the Toyota, according to the state patrol, which determined “following too close” was the cause of the crash.

Majerus was the sole occupant of the Highlander. Passengers in the Subaru included a Scott R. Gibson, 42, of Salkum, a 7-year-old boy, also from Salkum, according to the state patrol.

All parties were transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center for treatment.

No drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, according to the state patrol.
