Four Tumwater football players signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, officially taking the next step in their athletic careers.
Beckett Wall signed with the Colorado School of Mines, David Malroy signed with Western Oregon University, Cash Short signed with Montana Tech University, and Dylan Stevens signed with Portland State University.
Those four join Malijah Tucker as T-Birds who are signed to collegiate rosters for the 2025 season, as Tucker committed and signed with Washington State University in December.
"It's just a really cool thing to be a part of to see those kids work that hard to achieve that and for football to be an avenue for them to go on,” Tumwater football coach William Garrow said. “It’s a unique testament to the program.”
Garrow and longtime Tumwater assistant coach Rick McGrath took turns speaking about the four, sharing memories and stories from their time at Tumwater.
The four players also spoke, thanking their families, friends, and teammates while fighting back tears of joy.
“When you think about the amount of time that kids have put in, and these coaches, and then you get to see some of these moments, the culmination, it’s hard not to get emotional,” Garrow said. “You’ve invested so much personally in the last few years with these guys. To watch them achieve that is pretty special.”
“It was a really good group of kids,” he added. “We’re proud of them.”
