A fundraiser to assist a longtime staff member at the White Pass Ski Area who lost their home in the Retreat Fire has nearly tripled its funding goal.

According to a GoFundMe campaign organized by White Pass Ski Area crew members, IT Manager Tyler Forman and his wife, Justine, lost their home in the fire earlier this week.

The Retreat Fire east of White Pass had grown to more than 18,000 acres Friday. U.S. Highway 12 remains closed in both directions.

Forman, whose dad is a former park ranger, is a longtime staffer at the ski area who previously worked as a park manager, ticketing manager and in ski patrol, among other roles.

“Off the hill, Tyler and Justine consistently give their time to the community serving on several local nonprofit boards, donating their expertise to community events, and grabbing a shovel to help create more recreational opportunities in our area,” the GoFundMe states.

According to the fundraiser, the Formans home was destroyed Tuesday.

While the GoFundMe set a goal of $20,000 to assist the Forman’s, as of 3 p.m. on Friday, the fundraiser had raised $57,817 through 287 donations.
