Girls Wrestling Roundup: Adna’s Davis, Tenino’s Martinez cruise to titles

Kassidy Davis and Elise Martinez made quick work of their opponents on Saturday, each recording multiple pins to claim their weight classes at the Prairie Open in Yelm to kickoff the 2025-26 season.

Davis had three pins for the Pirates in the 100-pound bracket and then picked up an 8-2 verdict over North Creek’s Isabel Loomis in the finals. Her teammate Chloe Gevin was fourth at 115.

Martinez’s victory helped the Beavers to a ninth place finish in the team race with 117 points. All four of her wins at 105 were by pin and she spent a grand total of 3 minutes, 11 seconds on the mat. Maleah Chacon was fourth place at 125.

Elsewhere from the area, Black Hills was fifth in the standings with 149 points. It was led by Madeline Payne’s runner-up finish at 170-pounds where she pinned her first three opponents before getting pinned in the finals. Lightweights Kruz Presley and Grace Sandage registered fourth place finishes at 100 and 105 pounds, respectively.

Defending state champion Chloe Willis of Rainier was second at 235 after getting pinned by South Kitsap’s Elizabeth Hayden in 33 seconds. Rochester’s Izzabella Crawford was fourth at 140.

In the B division, the lone area winner was Black Hills’ Leah Belden powered by three pins. Seven other area wrestlers placed top-four in the B division.

Napavine’s Kunkel highest area finisher at Lady Jag kickoff

Maya Kunkel was the lone local wrestler to reach the finals at Saturday’s Lady Jag kickoff, placing second in the 190-pound bracket. She had two pins and a tech fall victory before getting pinned in the finals by Dayna Vi of Kentwood.

Teammate Anna Guenther placed fourth at 125 and in the B division, Saydee Gilligan was third at 110.

Centralia placed 11th in the team race with 53 points. Star Eva Reinitz was the highest finisher for the Tigers, placing third at 120 with four victories by bonus points. Arisbeth Rojas-Ramirez (115) and Jayden Krogness (140) both recorded fourth place performances while in the B division, Vanessa Pacas (110) and Maddalyn Rothdeutsch (145) also placed fourth.





Cardinals place top-10 at Kelly Bledsoe Invite

The Winlock High School girls wrestling team trekked down to Oregon and battled a mixture of PNW teams from the two states, placing ninth in the team standings with 58 points.

Maquinzee Thayer (110) and Hailey Goodrich (125) each placed second after running through the bracket with three pins each. Thayer and Goodrich were both pinned in the first period in the finals.

Abigale Goodrich (100) placed fourth in her weight class.

Trifecta of Trojans take second in Ocosta

Pe Ell’s Emma Person, Peyton Pilz and Sophie Milwanowski each finished second at Saturday’s Ocosta Invite. Of those three, Person was the only one to win a match where she pinned Naselle’s Riley Johnson in the third period.

Addyson Simonds won three matches to secure third place, including a 2:06 pin of teammate Isabelle Milanowski, who placed fourth.
