The Centralia and W.F. West girls wrestling teams both placed inside the top-10 at Saturday’s Centralia Tiger Classic and the two Evergreen Conference teams left with two champions in a local-heavy tournament.

For Centralia, Eva Reinitz won a Swamp Cup match versus W.F. West’s Lucy Hornby 13-4 in the 120-pound finals. Reinitz had two pins prior to the finals and racked up three takedowns to comfortably win. Jayden Krogness also won her weight class at 140, upending Rochester’s Izzabella Crawford with a match-winning reversal in the final minute.

W.F. West’s two champs were Eden Hornby (125) and Berkeley Varick (130), both combining for seven pins and all but one went into the third period. Also at 130, Sierra Wood lost in the first round, but fought back with four straight consolation wins to place fourth.

The Bearcats were the team runners-up with 136.5 points, just behind champion Curtis. The Tigers were eighth at 79.5 points while Adna, Mossyrock and Rochester all placed in the top-15.

Adna eighth grader Kassidy Davis dominated her way to win the 100-pound weight class, picking up a first period pin and back-to-back 15-0 tech falls. She has yet to lose in her debut varsity season. The Pirates also had two fourth place performances from Lillian Montant (170) and Olivia Chapman (190).

Mossyrock had a champion in Bailey Gross at 115. Three of her four pins on the day were in the first period and two of them came in under 60 seconds. At 145, Charley Berteaux was second for the Vikings. Napavine’s Maya Kunkel was also the runner-up at 190.

Quartet of Wolves rebound from semi losses to place third

The Black Hills High School girls wrestling team had four wrestlers respond emphatically from semifinal setbacks to all pin their third place foes at Saturday’s Takedowns and Tirara’s tournament in Orting.

Kruz Presley (100), Sierra Houseman (130), Madeline Payne (170) and Isabella Chenard (190) each registered a fall – only Chenard’s came in the second period – to help the Wolves place seventh in the team race with 114 points.

Wren Neklason (135) was fifth and Nancy Nguyen (125) placed eighth for Black Hills.

In an area head-to-head matchup, Tenino’s Maleah Chacon pinned Winlock’s Hailey Goodrich in the fifth place match. Both Chacon and Goodrich lost in the quarters before both winning their consolation semifinal.

Tumwater leaves tourney with three champions

Vera Pope, Lexi Magnusson-Gossler and Reagan Humphries combined for nine pins to all garner first place performances at Saturday’s Olympic girls tournament in Bremerton.

Pope spent the shortest time on the mat in the 130-138 pound bracket, getting all her pins in the first period. Humphries (175-187) and Magnusson-Gossler (123-133) had at least one match go into the second period.

Brooklyn Schenck (115-117), Trinity Stricklett (138-150) and Joey Coty (168-175) all went 2-1 on the day to place second.

Rainier gets several girls on podium

Behind six wrestlers that ended up as top-four finishers, the Mountaineers put up 60 points to finish sixth out of seven teams at Saturday’s Columbia Clash Queens of the Mat in Stevenson.

Chloe Willis placed third at 190-pounds, losing her semi via first period pin before winning her third place match by medical forfeit. Layla Hill (125) and Ayana Elmstead (135) each went 2-2 on the day to place fourth.

Despite not winning a match, Janessa Dodson (100) and Gracie Lantz (235) combined for 17 team points.

Pe Ell’s Milanowski lone two-match winner

The Trojans’ heavyweight Sophia Milanowski was the only one to win both her matches at Saturday’s Lady Bulldog Bash, pinning Thomas Jefferson’s Aysia Turner twice in the first period.

Addyson Holmes at 125 and Addyson Simonds at 135 also won matches for Pe Ell.
