Two of the best wrestlers in the area went toe-to-toe once again on Saturday at the Hammerhead Invite and just like last week, Centralia’s Eva Reinitz got the better of W.F. West’s Lucy Hornby in the 120-pound finals.
Reinitz won by major decision at the Centralia Tiger Classic, but had to piece together a rally after trailing 7-0 after one period. Thanks to two reversals, six back points and one takedown, the junior led 13-12 and a reversal with 29 seconds left in the third sealed the win.
Hornby reached the finals with a couple of pins while Reinitz had two pins and a tech fall. W.F. West tied for 10th in the team race with 73.5 points, one point clear of Centralia.
The Tigers’ Jayden Krogness (140) rebounded from a second round loss to take third behind six straight wins and five of them via fall. For the Bearcats, Sierra Wood (130) and Eden Hornby (125) both made the semis, but Wood won her medal match with a second period pin.
Black Hills gets a pair of seconds, top-five team finish in Spanaway

Grunenfelder notched two pins to reach the finals while Payne staved off South Kitsap’s Syia Strohauer 12-9 in the semifinals. Both lost via bonus points in their last match of the day.
A trio of Black Hills grapplers in Nancy Nguyen (125), Averie Reynolds (130) and Wren Neklason (135) all lost early in the tournament, but rebounded to all place in the top-five. Reynolds and Neklason both lost in the first round. Isabella Chenard (190) placed sixth for the Wolves.
Tenino’s top wrestler Maleah Chacon (120) snared third place after losing in the quarterfinals. She had three pins and an injury default win to leave with a medal.
