Gorillas Run Past Tigers in Neutral Site Showcase

In its first major test of the season, the No. 6 Napavine boys basketball team was defeated in a neutral site contest against No. 4 Davenport, 74-50, Wednesday night.

James Grose scored a team-high 18 points and Karsen Denault had 17 points and a massive 14 rebounds, but after a solid start defensively, the Tigers fell apart in the final three quarters on that end.

The Tigers shot just 35% from the floor as a team, making just 2 of 15 shots from deep, while the Gorillas countered with a 70% shooting percentage from the floor.

Davenport’s Tennessee Rainwater led the Gorillas with 34 points, and Brenick Soliday capitalized when the defense collapsed on Rainwater, scoring 14 points and hitting four 3-pointers.

The Tigers (3-1, 2-0 C2BL) don’t have long to lament their first loss of the season, on Thursday they will take on another 2B title contender and the host of this neutral site showcase, Brewster.
