A 57-year-old Aberdeen man died Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 101, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol.
Dondi L. Blackburn was driving north in a 1993 Ford Probe just south of milepost 119 at about 12:48 p.m. Sunday when he “attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve, lost control and slid into the southbound lane,” said state troopers.
A 2000 sedan, traveling south, “struck the passenger side” of the Probe, stopping both cars in the southbound lane, according to state troopers.
Blackburn was airlifted to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, where he was pronounced dead. Next of kin have been notified.
According to the state patrol, Blackburn was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Kaely M. Timi, 24, and her passenger, Torie R. Danford, 23, both of Tacoma, were reportedly transported to Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen with undisclosed injuries.
Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to the state patrol.
The cause of the accident was listed as “speeds too fast for conditions.”
Both cars were considered totaled.
