Green Hill School inmate charged after April overdose

A Green Hill School inmate is now facing a felony charge related to an overdose he suffered at the facility in April. 

Michael Jermaine Polnett Jr., 19, was charged Dec. 12 in Lewis County Superior Court with one count of possession of a controlled substance while in a state correctional facility. The charge is a class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison. 

Polnett reportedly suffered an overdose in a shower at Green Hill School on April 12, 2025. Court documents indicate that Polnett was the only person in the room at the time and that there were several indications of drug use. 



Evidence collected at the scene later tested positive for a synthetic cannabinoid, according to court documents. 

Polnett had his preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 18.
