Hope Housing Collaborative of Lewis County, an organization of faith communities working together to help the unhoused in the county, has teamed up with St. Timothy Episcopal Church  to provide safe parking for community members living in their cars.

Parking hours will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning in July. The church will host the safe parking program for one or two weeks every two months.

According to a letter from the St. Timothy Episcopal Church  to its neighbors, guests will be screened using the Washington State Patrol background check. Those who park at the church will agree to their safe parking code of conduct, which prohibits alcohol and drug use. Guests will display provided authorization in their vehicles and will park in designated spots. Church hosts will be on site in the evenings to register and welcome guests.

St. Timothy Episcopal Church will be one of five churches in Lewis County participating in the program, including Chehalis United Methodist Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Centralia, Grace Foursquare Church in Centralia, and Harrison Square Presbyterian Church in Centralia.

Hope Housing Collaborative of Lewis County is made up of four founding member churches, including Chehalis United Methodist Church, Gather Church in Centralia, Harrison Square Presbyterian Church in Centralia and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chehalis.

St. Timothy Episcopal Church, 1826 SW Snively Ave., Chehalis, invites its neighbors to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, May 7, at 5:30 p.m. Representatives of the church and the Hope Housing Collaborative will provide details and answer questions.
