The Adna Pirates opened the floodgates in the second quarter against Morton-White Pass in Randle Tuesday night after a tight first frame, and the Pirates cruised 75-30.

Adna only led 13-10 through the first eight minutes, but the Pirates pounded the Timberwolves with a 29-5 advantage in the second quarter to take a 42-15 halftime lead. The Pirates didn’t stop there, as another 25-8 sprint in the third ignited the running clock. Turnovers killed the Timberwolves, and Adna converted with points in transition.

“They put some pressure on us, and we just crumbled,” MWP head coach Kevin Dunlap said.

Trevin Salme led all scorers with 22 points, and Jackson Knittle and Grayson Humphrey both finished in double figures with 13 and 12, respectively. Landen Cline added eight.

MWP senior Kohen Ingalsbe scored 11, and he earned the respect of his head coach by asking to stay in the game in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach.

“Kohen really worked hard the whole night. I thought he really battled, and I was proud of him,” Dunlap said. “I put the bench in the entire fourth quarter, and Kohen asked to keep playing, so I let him stay in.”

Kyzen Pena added four points for MWP, Logan Mays and Samuel Zapalac each had three, and Liam Pelletier secured his first varsity bucket.

A Saturday afternoon date with rival Napavine (7-0, 5-0 Central 2B League) now awaits Adna (8-2, 6-0 C2BL), while Morton-White Pass (0-9, 0-6) looks for its first win against Winlock (2-8, 1-6 C2BL) Thursday night at Morton High School.
