Hundreds hunt for eggs during Mead Family Market Bunny Bash in Glenoma

With the spring sun shining high in the sky, over 200 young, eager Easter egg hunters and their parents descended upon the Mead Family Market for the Glenoma grocery and feed store’s second annual Mead Family Market Bunny Bash on Saturday, April 4.

Also among the youngsters was the illusive and legendary Bunny Bigfoot, who made an appearance in the Easter Bunny’s stead to take photos with young egg hunters.

The second annual Bunny Bash was held in the field to the east of the market, where the now-closed Ironwood Green Golf Course’s first hole began.

Located at 8136 U.S. Highway 12 in Glenoma, the Mead Family Market is owned and run by Rick Mead and his daughters, Katie Mead and Rikki Mead. Rick also currently serves as mayor for one of Glenoma’s neighboring East Lewis County communities, the City of Morton.

“We are so grateful for every single person who took time out of their day to come celebrate with us, bring their families and make memories together. Seeing our community gathered in one place meant more to us than we can put into words. We also want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding,” the Meads said on the Mead Family Market Facebook page. “This egg hunt is still new for us, and like anything growing, there are always a few bumps along the way. We truly feel so blessed to have such a kind, supportive community standing behind us through the growing pains. Your kindness and excitement are what make events like this worth doing, and we truly hope everyone had a wonderful time. We’re already looking forward to next year and promise to make it even better! A huge, heartfelt thank you as well to everyone who came early, stayed late, and helped us set up. We truly couldn’t do this without you. It takes a village, and we’re so lucky to have ours.”

The Mead Family Market offers a variety of grocery items along with a kitchen for freshly cooked food and animal feed for farmers in the area.

It also features a walk-in cooler with “the coldest beer around,” Rick’s customers previously told The Chronicle. The Mead Family Market is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Also outside of the Mead Family Market is Crazy Mary’s Coffee Stand, owned by Mary Snyder, of Randle, open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Crazy Mary’s serves customers coffee from the Madrona Coffee Co., a micro-roaster located in Tacoma, along with Lotus Plant Power fruit and energy drinks.
