In focus: Lewis County commissioners honor W.F. West student athletes

The Board of Lewis County Commissioners honored the W.F. West High School girls wrestling team for a list of accomplishments during a public meeting at the Lewis County Courthouse on Tuesday, March 11. The team earned fourth place at state, was named academic state champions and boasted five medalists, a first place title, a third place finish, two fourth place finishes and a sixth place finish at the Mat Classic in Tacoma last month.

Land took first in state in the 2A 190-pound weight class after placing in second the two years before. He won his match during the Mat Classic at the Tacoma Dome 11-8 during a tiebreaker round.

Lehman became the state champion in the 2A 130-pound weight class and the first W.F. West girl to win a state title. She won her match at the Tacoma Dome during the Mat Classic 10-2 and finished her season with a 29-3 record.
