The Seattle Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is celebrating Halloween with their precious babies — including one from Lewis County. Baby boy Tuff Tibbits, of Chehalis, is dressed as a Cuties orange.
He was born Sept. 8.
“Tuff has had quite an incredible journey,” his mother, Haley Tibbits, wrote in an email to The Chronicle. “He was born earlier this year with a rare vascular condition called Vein of Galen Malformation (VOGM). It’s a condition few have ever heard of, yet it has deeply shaped our family’s life and perspective. Through this long hospital stay, procedures and small miracles, we’ve seen the power of faith, resilience and community.”
Other tiny trick-or-treaters are dressed as a Dalmatian puppy and a sweet granny.
Adding to the fun, there is also a “Lil Dumper” costume — complete with a bat and mustache — as a tribute to Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners.
About 10 nurses handcrafted the felt costumes with love for the babies’ comfort and safety, according to a news release. This annual tradition brings joy and memorable moments to families during their NICU stay, the hospital stated.
