In Focus: Turf Goes in at Centralia College Multisport Athletics Complex

Posted

Construction of the long-awaited multipurpose athletics complex at Centralia College is on track for completion at the end of October, the college confirmed this week.

The college broke ground on the field in spring 2022.

All that’s left for crews to complete is the finishing touches, including finishing turf installation that began in earnest on Thursday and installing curbs and fencing, according to the college.

The turf complex, planned to be in the $3 million range, will house a baseball field, softball diamond and a full, NCAA-sized soccer pitch.

The southeast corner of the field will contain the fastpitch diamond, the southwest corner will hold the baseball field and the soccer pitch will run across the outfields.

Both the softball and baseball fields will have bullpens, and the college is looking to carve out space for batting cages, according to previous Chronicle reporting.
