In Loving Memory of Carol Lynn Rose: 1949-2023

Posted

Carol Lynn Rose passed away at home on March 28, 2023, surrounded by her children. Carol was born April 11, 1949, in Twickenham, England, to Gordon and Marie Partridge. She graduated from Twickenham County School for Girls and then the Chelsea School of Chiropody. As a young adult, Carol also worked as an au pair in Switzerland and enjoyed hitchhiking through Europe.

While traveling in Greece, Carol met Buddy Rose, and they married in England in 1972. They moved to Glenoma, Washington and built their home. The marriage ended but they later became friends. Carol raised their three children and worked as a school cook at Glenoma Elementary and White Pass Jr./Sr. High.

Local students will remember Carol as the cook who expected “please” and “thank you;” while her children also remember the mom who loved unconditionally; allowed them the freedom to read any book or play all day in the woods; whistled tunes while baking goodies; and attended every home and away game/meet for their many sports.

Carol was immensely proud of her children. She loved living in the valley and visiting with her friends. Carol was a great conversationalist with friends and strangers alike. She always kept a beautiful garden and enjoyed spending hours with her flowers and vegetables or just lying in the sun. She loved trips to the beach and the casino. She was an avid reader of crime novels and a chocolate aficionado. Carol treated pets as part of the family, and a loving dog was never far from her side.

Carol was a beloved mother, friend, sister and aunt and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Natalie Gonzalez, Meredith (Josh) Cruz and Adam (Casey) Rose; her grandchildren, Claudia and Cecilia Gonzalez; her sister, Janet Olliff; her brother, Graham (Pat) Partridge; her ex-husband, Buddy; and her many nieces and nephews.
