In Loving Memory of Donna Osborne: 1934-2023

Posted

Our family mourns a great loss: our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Donna Osborne. She passed peacefully at the age of 88, surrounded by loved ones. Donna Mae Osborne was born to Alvaretta and Peter Moravec on May 21, 1934. The youngest of 12 children, she grew up and attended school in Napavine, Washington, where she participated in many school activities and was a member of the pep staff. Donna met Gordon Butch Osborne at a local dance in 1951 and they married in 1953.

After graduating from high school, Donna went to work for a telephone company, followed by the original Yardbirds store and National Bank of Commerce. In 1958, they began expanding their family and had three beautiful daughters. Donna was happy to be a stay-at-home mom until the girls were old enough to attend school, at which time she began working for the Chehalis School District.

When Donna and Butch retired in the late 1980s, they began traveling the United States in their fifth-wheel. After their fifth-wheel adventures, they spent the next 26 years splitting their time between Mesa, Arizona and Chehalis, Washington.

Donna enjoyed attending spring training games and was a Seattle Mariners fan, as well as being a Seahawk season ticket holder for 19 years. She also loved to golf and play cards, and she was pretty darn good at both.

An avid reader and born-creative, Donna created many beautiful things, including knitted goods and crystal trees that her grandkids still love and cherish today. She loved being a member of local community organizations and groups. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal church, an elder of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and a lifetime member of the Chehalis Eagles.

Donna is survived by her husband, Butch Osborne; three daughters, Pam Serna (Tim), Michele Cox (Russ) and Cara Macomber (Brad); eight grandchildren, Brittany Serna, Megan Serna (Cody Hebner), Hayli Macomber, Ashleigh Cox, Spencer Macomber, Courtney Rothlin (Joe), Hannah Meikle (Corbin) and Alex Cox (Sydney); and seven great-grandchildren, Baylor, Beckett, Elliot, Abbie, Henry, Cutter and soon-to-be born baby Meikle. She is also survived by one sister, Pat Thompson.

A funeral service will be held in Donna’s honor at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, followed by a reception at the Newaukum Golf Course at noon. We invite you to join us for one or both to celebrate her wonderful life. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Silver Acres for their loving care. Also thank you to the staff at Assured Home Health Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the chehalisfoundation.org/scholarships.
